Breast Reduction (Reduction Mammoplasty)

Breast Reduction Surgery (Reduction Mammoplasty)

A breast reduction surgery is performed to reduce the size and improve the appearance of unusually large breasts. Large breasts may cause aches and pains in the back and upper neck and may cause deep grooves on the shoulders from brassiere straps that support the excessively heavy breasts. The breast reduction alleviates these symptoms and also improves the overall appearance.

Incisions are made around the nipple area (areola) and from the areola to the fold and in the fold. Symmetry should be significantly improved with this surgery although it can never be completely perfect. This surgery is most often chosen by patients with bigger breasts who want them smaller.

The risks involved with cosmetic surgery of the breasts:

No surgery is risk free, and that includes cosmetic surgery of the breasts. Although cosmetic surgery is an elective procedure, every patient must understand that these procedures are real surgical operations that involve the potential for complications. However, most cosmetic surgery procedures are categorized as low risk when performed in an accredited facility, by breast surgeons with the appropriate training and qualifications. The risk of complications from breast enhancement surgery can be minimized with a combination of the proper knowledge, skill and qualifications, sound surgical practices and by closely following your surgeon’s instructions on follow-up care during the recovery period.

With an established track record of over 70 years, board certified plastic surgeons, an accredited facility, and thousands of satisfied patients throughout Detroit, Michigan and the U.S., the Straith Clinic has earned a reputation for cosmetic surgery of the face and body.
