Facelift in Detroit
Traditional Face Lift (Rhytidectomy)
We understand that each patient is unique and requires a specific approach when considering facial surgery and we are experts in all techniques such as traditional face lift, mid facelifts, lower facelifts, neck lifts, mini face lifts, endoscopic forehead lifts and brow lifts. Meeting the unique needs of our patients coupled with our knowledge, experience, and training is what separates us from other plastic surgeons in the Detroit, Michigan area.
A facelift in Detroit is one of the most requested procedures by our patients. As a result, facelifts, including the neck lift and the mini lift have become a specialty of the Straith Clinic. There are many surgical facelift procedures available to rejuvenate the aging face. Deciding on the best procedure will depend on our surgeon's expertise, your goals, the structure of the face, and the condition of the skin.
The traditional face lift uses a combination of techniques that target the sagging tissues of the cheeks, jowl line and neck area. It gives you a more youthful facial appearance by reshaping the underlying tissues into their youthful position and redraping the skin over the more youthful shaped face.
In general, the traditional face lift result is longer lasting than the “mini” techniques, but requires a higher degree of invasive techniques and more recovery when compared to the “mini lift” techniques.
Mini Face lift/Neck Lift
The mini lifts provide a less dramatic result. The branded mini face lifts, like the Weekend, One-Hour, Thread, or other "break through" procedures are a compromise when compared to the more traditional surgical techniques. If it has a fancy name, it is usually better marketing than medicine. As plastic surgeons, we are continually asked to provide more with less downtime. Patients have to be realistic.
The mini face lift procedure, which is less invasive than the traditional face lift, will help rejuvenate the cheeks, and to a lesser extent, the neck. Mini face lifts are best suited for patients who want to correct minor sagging or drooping of the lower face, including the cheeks and jowls. Mini face lift/neck lift procedures involve less incisions than the traditional face lift.

Risks involved with facial cosmetic surgery
No surgical procedure is risk free, and that includes facial cosmetic surgery like a facelift in Detroit. Although cosmetic surgery is an elective procedure, every patient must understand that these procedures are real surgical operations that involve the potential for complications. However, most cosmetic surgery procedures are categorized as low risk when performed in an accredited facility, by a board certified plastic surgeon with the appropriate training and qualifications.
Surgical risks can be categorized broadly into general risks and specific risks. General risks are the potential complications that are common to all surgical procedures, such as infection, bleeding, wound healing problems, and anesthetic complications. Specific risks are the potential complications that are unique to the specific facial surgery operations. A more detailed discussion about the specific risks and general risks of your specific facial procedure will be carried out during your surgical consultation.
The risk of complications from a facial surgery can be minimized with a combination of the proper knowledge, skill, sound surgical practices and by closely following your surgeon’s instructions on follow-up care during the recovery period.
